      Each September Lithuania commemorates the Day of the Holocaust in Lithuania. The brutality of WWII swept the country in 1941-1944 and once a vast Lithuanian Jewish (Litvak) community had been compelled to inhumane suffering and annihilation.

      On September 24, 2015 at 6.30 for 7pm start you are cordially invited to the Lithuanian Embassy in London to join us in commemorating the Shoah in Lithuania.

      The special guest of the Day is a Holocaust survivor Professor Irena Veisaitė who will share her personal story of the Shoah.

      The talk will be followed by Q/A session and the traditional candle-lighting ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. 

      In commemoration of the Day of the Holocaust in Lithuania a Public Talk by Professor Irena Veisaitė: What does the Holocaust mean to me? Moderated by journalist Hester Abrams.

      August 23, 2015. Representatives of the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities in London gatherted at Marble Arch to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the Baltic way. In late summer of 1989 people of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined their hands to form a human chain spanning over 600 km across Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn. In this peaceful political demonstration they condemned the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact (1939) between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany and demanded freedom for the Baltic States.

      Lithuania's name will appear among the more than 3000 shows with performers from all over the world at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world's largest arts festival. This year our country will be represented by two contemporary dance shows which have received recognition not just in Lithuania but also internationally. Over the period running from 17 to 22 August, to be exact in the morning of those days, the public coming to the SpaceTriplex venue will woken up by the choreographer Birutė Banevičiūtė's Mozaika and the dance show Contemporary?, created at the Arts Printing House (Vilnius) and nominated as the Performing Arts Event of the Year. The creative teams of both shows will begin their performances at 9:15 am.

      On Friday 24 July 3-5pm a classically trained violinist, Abraham Brody draws from music and pagan rituals of Baltic and Slavic cultures and will perform with Lithuanian folk singers Trys Keturiose. The performance will take place at the Barbican Art Gallery (Barbican Centre, Silk Street, City of London EC2Y 8DS). This performance is generously supported by the Lithuanian Culture Institute.

      On 18 July MaLituanie together with Baba Sissoko will perform at the Petworth Festval that will run from 15 July to 1 August 2015. MaLituanie is a unique project performed by artists both from Lithuania and Mali. It easily and inseparably fuses the harmonies of traditional Malian and Lithuanian music, tells stories of wanderings and homesickness; of new experience in exotic lands, and the duty to preserve our cultural memory.
