At the UN Security Council meeting Vice-Minister Adomėnas stressed the responsibility of the Belarusian regime for the illegal migration crisis
On 8 October, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas, together with Estonian Foreign Affairs Minister Eva-Maria Liimets and Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs attended the UN Sceurity Council meeting under the Arria format convened in Tallinn by Estonia intended to discuss human rights violations in Belarus.
Crisis of illegal migration caused by the Belarusian regime aiming to destabilize the situation in the EU Member States and divert the attention of the international community and institutions from human rights violations in Belarus.
Thanking the international community for the support in addressing the illegal migration crisis, Vice-Minister Adomėnas emphasized the responsibility of the Belarusian regime for human rights violations and risks posed to the health and lives of third-country migrants and refugees in Belarus.
The Vice-Minister expressed Lithuania's strong commitment to continue supporting Belarusian civil society and the independent media and condemned the repression against them and demanded an immediate end to the repression, stressing the importance of responsibility for human rights violations.
