On 20 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Sakharov Prize winner, Ukrainian film director and human rights activist Oleg Sentsov, who is visiting Lithuania.

Landsbergis thanked Sentsov for his efforts to achieve common values based goals that united Lithuania and Ukraine. Lithuania's Foreign Minister noted that “the ongoing international human rights documentary film festival 'Inconvenient Films' is a unique opportunity to acquaint Lithuania's society with the country's foreign policy, where the issues related to values, human rights and freedom are given a special role.”

The participants of the meeting shared insights into the situation and further trends in political development in China, Russia and other regions of the world. Landsbergis and Sentsov also exchanged their views on global trends and current challenges facing the defenders of democratic values, human rights and freedoms. The interlocuters also noted that the film genre helped increase public awareness of global issues in the most compelling way.

Sentsov actively participates in the international human rights documentary film festival 'Inconvenient Films' that has been organised annually by the Lithuanian Human Rights Center since 2007. The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
