Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister Adomėnas and the U.S. representatives discuss the perpetuation of the memory of the Holocaust and heritage issues

On 14 June, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas met with the U.S. Department of State’s Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues Cherrie Daniels and Paul Packer, Chairman of the United States Commission For the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad.

The meeting focused on cooperation on issues pertaining to historical memory and the preservation of Lithuania's Jewish heritage, as well as possible joint Lithuania-U.S. projects in these areas.

Adomėnas stressed that it was important to know the Jewish history as an integral part of the history of Lithuania. “Besides the already existing memory sites, we must strive not only to perpetuate the statistical data, but also as many specific names of the victims as possible,” said the Foreign Vice-Minister, stressing the need to remember the great Jewish tragedy  the Holocaust.
 
Together with the U.S. representatives, Adomėnas agreed to continue a friendly and constructive dialogue, and practical cooperation.
