Lithuanian Ambassador to the UK Renatas Norkus expressed his condolences on the passing of Sir Roger Gifford

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Roger Gifford Honorary Consul for Lithuania in Dorset and former Lord Mayor of the City of London, who most recently was Chairman of the Advisory Board of International Business and Diplomatic Exchange Organization. We honor his outstanding legacy and send our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
"We lost an outstanding person who significantly contributed to the strengthening of relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom. Sincere condolences to the family," said Lithuanian Ambassador to the UK Renatas Norkus.
Sir Roger, who was knighted in 2014 for services to international business, culture and the City, served as Alderman for the Ward of Cordwainer having first been elected in 2004.
He was most recently Chair of the Green Finance Institute and a senior banker at SEB in London. Sir Roger was also previously Chair of the Green Finance Initiative, launched in London in 2016 to focus on growing the contribution of the financial sector to the G20 climate agenda, and chaired the UK Government’s Green Finance Taskforce.
Sir Gifford was a Trustee of St Paul’s Cathedral Foundation, Chairman of the English Chamber Orchestra charity and the Tenebrae Choir and Co-Founder – with his wife Clare – of the City Music Foundation.
